Let’s be honest – most of us fashionistas watch the awards shows just for the fashion. In fact, I rarely even watch the actual show, mostly tuning into the pre-show red carpet coverage. The Golden Globes are the official start to the awards season fashion, and I just had to name my best and worst dressed of the night.
BEST DRESSED
It’s all about red with Jennifer Lawrence in Dior (my personal favorite of the night!), Olivia Wilde in Michael Kors Collection, and Zendaya in Marchesa.
A perfect plunging neckline (Kirsten Dunst in Valentino Haute Couture), a vibrant caped dress (Jennifer Lopez in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture), and the best beading detail (Amy Adams in Atelier Versace).
WORST DRESSED
Too many ruffles (Jane Fonda in Yves Saint Laurent Couture), boring and dated (Maura Tierney in Elizabeth Kennedy), and love her but the white off-the-shoulder neckline isn’t flattering (Amy Schumer in Prabal Gurung).
Poofy, weird sleeves (Jennifer Jason Leigh in Roland Mouret), the color is nice but the bare midriff and matching choker aren’t working (Kate Hudson in Michael Kors), and a pancake bust with Snooki hair (Katy Perry in Prada).
Who are your picks for best and worst dressed?
xoxo,
Veronica
Ok, not gonna lie. I was not wowed this year. Compared to other years and events, none of these would make the list. So so sad….
Best:
Jennifer Lawrence–edgy, but still tasteful and chic. She was, by far, the best in my book
Amber Heard–the color was absolutely lovely on her and elevated her from dirty looking bride of Johnny Depp to screen goddess (though the belt area was a bit odd)
Kirsten Dunst–anytime a woman’s boobs look THAT good in a dress, it should be at the top of the list. She was delectable
Honorable mention:
Lady Gaga–loved everything about the look except for her weird yellow hair. The dress was perfection, paired with the stacks of diamond bracelets
J-Lo–I wanted to love it. I really did. But….it was all just too much. Long red nails, hair down, cape, statement necklace, red lips.
Worst dressed:
Rooney Mara–it’s a dress that has been worn before and it is never successful. Dirty dishrags didn’t look good in the 90s and they don’t look good now
Regina King–Apparently, girlfriend is vying for a role in the new Thor movie.
Kate Hudson–I get recycling, but wearing your old headband as a top is not cute. It’s really not cute for a 36 year old mother of two.
Katy Perry–She admitted on tv that she was wearing an “as seen on tv” Bump It in her hair. I rest my case.

LOVE your insight! Yeah, I liked Amber Heard too, but couldn’t get over the belt area as well (definitely needed just a bit of fabric covering it or something). And agree with Lady Gaga – everything was perfection but the hair, ugh! A sleek, platinum bob would do wonders for her.
As for the worst, Regina King and Rooney Mara were both also on my list but didn’t make the final cut. Totally agree with you! And yeah, overall it was very underwhelming. Hopefully it means they’re saving all the amazing dresses for upcoming shows and that they all wont be total snoozefests!

I am very much looking forward to all your best and worst dressed choices for this award season! Also, very surprised that Kate Hudson got herself on the worst dressed list! Tsk tsk! 😉

I’ll keep ’em coming! I know, I was surprised about Kate Hudson too. If the dress was whole instead of chopped up into a bandeau top and a choker she def wouldn’t have been on it. I’m sure she’ll redeem herself next time 😉
